How to visit Jaisalmer

By Air :

Jagson airlines has started operations to Jaisalmer connecting it with a twice a week flight to Delhi and Jaipur.The airport is 5 km from downtown. Transfers from the airport are either by taxi which is available only at flight times or can be called by the hotels.

By Train :

Jaisalmer is now connected by direct express train with Delhi,Jaipur an Jodhpur. Additionally there is an overnight express train connecting it to Jodhpur. The railway station is just off the national highway to Bikaner about 2 km from the downtown.

        


By Road :

Jaisalmer is now connected by National Highway No15 starting at Bhatinda,in Punjab that runs through Sri Ganganagar,Bikaner,Jaisalmer,Barmer and enters Gujarat. Even though it's a two-lane it is a very smooth road with light to low medium traffic and runs close to some of the best sand dunes in the country.Jaisalmer is also linked by good two-lane state highway with Jodhpur.Jaisalmer has two bus stations.Main bus stand used by Rajasthan SRTC is on Barmer Road about 2 km from down town.The other used by private coach operators is near Hanuman Circle towards the other side of town and again about 2 kms from downtown.
