Oriya cuisine comprises mainly of rice, fish, vegetables, coconut, milk products and pulses. Traditional vegetarian cuisine can be enjoyed at kitchens of Lingaraj and Ananta Basudev temples.Some traditional mouth-watering Oriya dishes are macchojhola, Khichdi, besara, chadchadi, ghanta and badichoora.
Restaurants like Chandan in Hotel Swosti Plaza and Dalma serve traditional Oriya cuisine.Meat and chicken now feature on most of the menus. Seafood is popular and one can enjoy the best of prawns, lobsters and wide variety of fish. Orissa's specialties are cakes of powered gram like chakuli, kakara, monda and arisa.
